Funeral Information The following information is from the Decatur Fire Department reference the upcoming visitation and funeral for Capt. William Horve. Visitation will be conducted from 16:00 to 20:00 on Monday, May 4, 2009, at First Christian Church, located at 3350 N. MacArthur Rd. in Decatur. Funeral services will follow on Tuesday, May 5, 2009, at 10:00, at the same location. Decatur Fire Department Engine 3 will carry Capt. Horve to his final resting place at Macon County Memorial Park Cemetery following the funeral. During the visitation on Monday evening, there will be a “pass through” at 18:00 for uniformed firefighters, police officers, state honor guard members and EMS personnel wishing to pay their last respects to Capt. Horve. This will be in lieu of standing in line during the visitation. Basically, all uniformed individuals assembled for the “pass through” will be taken to the front of the line and pass by Capt. Horve’s casket for last respects. Anyone who prefers the traditional procedure of standing in line to go through the receiving line is certainly welcome to do so. The “pass through” is simply an option for uniformed personnel who may not have the time to stand in what we anticipate to be a very long receiving line. As for Tuesday morning, there will be a designated seating area for Decatur Fire Department Firefighters, Decatur Retired Firefighters and visiting uniformed firefighters from other departments. If your fire department will be attending and wishes to bring a piece of fire apparatus for the procession to the cemetery, please contact Decatur Battalion Chief Les Lockwood immediately (217) 519-2254 or (217) 424-2811 so he can add your department to the procession. At the cemetery, a place will be reserved for all uniformed firefighters to form up together. Decatur Firefighters will be at the front of the formation with visiting uniformed firefighters standing immediately behind. Capt. Horve will be buried with full military rites with the Macon County Honor Guard providing that service at the cemetery. If you have any questions or need directions for any of the events, please call the Decatur Fire Department at (217) 424-2812.
