Decatur Fire Department circa 1948

These pictures came from Capt. McKenzie's collection. The pictures of the rigs are from a yearly DFD booklet, 1948. The others are individual pictures of a rescue dive, a fire investigation, new ladder truck, and some of the fire fighters at the old station on South Franklin. The first picture is actually of a rescue attempt on a drowning on January 26, 1935 in Lake Decatur. No info on fire investigation picture. No info on fire truck pic. The men sitting outside Station 1 are: Carl Graf, Bill Bowman, John Warren, Wach, Frank Boyd, Ed Platt, Paggie Wallar, Paul Morthington, Henry Tish, Rasor, and Walter Screeton. No names for table picture. The fire sedan is a 1000 Gal. Triple Combination Fire Sedan that seats 10 men, carries 1500 feet of 2 1/2" hose, and 200 feet of booster hose, with 100 Gal. Booster tank.
